Proposed Changes to Morningside Bus Routes

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) has issued a “Bus Line Redesign” plan, with the current draft titled “Draft Network 1.0.”  This plan, which would take effect as early as 2026, impacts Morningside’s bus routes.  The project’s website (Bus Line Redesign Home | Bus Line Redesign | Engage PRT) offers interactive maps of routes and the entire network, and you are also able to give feedback on specific routes by clicking “Find Your Route,” navigating to the route, and adding ratings and comments on the page.

While the website is a tad confusing, the basic impacts to Morningside would be:

  • The 91, which currently skips Morningside to take the Fleming Bridge over to Sharpsburg, would become the D91 and basically be a back-and-forth from the Zoo to Downtown.  So if you can get down to Butler St./the Zoo, you’ll have a direct link to Lawrenceville, the Strip, and Downtown!

  • The 75 would stay largely the same for Morningside, but would end up downtown rather than in Southside

  • The current 87 would become the “D87” and take different route – going from East Liberty to Downtown via Stanton Ave. and Butler St. rather than Friendship/Liberty.  You’d still be able to grab it at Stanton Ave, but the 87 M Branch would be discontinued – so you’d have to hop on the 75 or walk to Stanton.

Have opinions on these plans, good or bad?  Submit your feedback on the Bus Line Redesign Home and/or attend one of the events listed on the page.
