Community Spirit at Merry Morningside ☃️

Morningside came alive with holiday cheer as neighbors gathered for the much-anticipated annual event Merry Morningside on Saturday, December 9. The celebration, hosted by the Morningside Area Community Council, brought together families, friends, and special guests, including Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey.

A highlight of the event was the various activity stations including the gingerbread house decorating station, where families gathered to unleash their creativity; a card-making station allowed attendees to add a personal touch to their holiday greetings; and the star of the afternoon, a hot chocolate station!

For those seeking a bit of adventure, a scavenger hunt unfolded throughout Morningside, with teams displaying impressive levels of competitiveness. Residents crisscrossed the neighborhood, deciphering clues and uncovering hidden treasures, adding an element of excitement to the festivities.

The Senior Center also hosted a Santa Shop during the event, where children had the opportunity to purchase small gifts for their siblings and friends, creating heartwarming moments of generosity and thoughtfulness.

MACC would like to express its gratitude to the Merry Morningside volunteer committee members Bri Saleone, Brooke Scott, and Jen Branson. Also, a big thank you to Roberta Jones and the Senior Center for opening their doors to host Merry Morningside. The Senior Center provided a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The Merry Morningside volunteer committee is already gearing up for next year's celebration and welcomes ideas and assistance from the community. The success of this year's event serves as a testament to the strong sense of community in Morningside, making Merry Morningside a cherished tradition for years to come. If you are interested in volunteering to help next year, please contact MACC.
