MACC’s Annual Egg Hunt and Egg Drop

On Saturday, April 1, amidst a forecast of rain and severe winds, MACC held its annual Easter egg hunt and egg drop at St. Raphael Church. Thankfully, we were spared most of the inclement weather. The families of 115 kids ages 0-12 enjoyed an afternoon of fun that included an egg hunt, sensory stations from City Squeakers Playgroup, an Easter egg-themed STEM building challenge by Lauren Rudy, a craft table, beautifully decorated treats from Yaz Bakery, and delicious food and drinks from Wise County Biscuits and Knock About Coffee Truck.

The older kids enjoyed a drone candy drop courtesy of Curt Boirum and competed in an egg drop contest. Judges dropped the contestants’ homemade contraptions out the second and third windows of the old preschool building to see which ones would protect the egg inside from breaking. Congratulations to our three winners - Ilan Marietti, Payton Minor, and Nica DeLong whose eggs went unscathed for all three rounds. They were rewarded with trophies and $25 each.

A big thanks to St. Raphael Church for generously opening up their space for the event. A big shout out to Father Brendan, Barb Melick, and Chris Johnson for all of their help.

Thanks also to Rick at Lock & Dam for donating the free cone coupons to the egg drop participants.

So many people pitched in to help with the planning and execution of the event including Alana Rykala Delaney, Matt and Vanessa Marietti, Nan Pischke, Dave and Niquelle Abdul-Malak, Kevan and Anna Rutledge, Alex Wreschnig, Justin Justi, Stella Justi, Yazmin Tapia, Mandee Williams, Kate Harris, Pat Harris, Jane Banfield Hicks, Allison McLaren, Kristie Boirum, Amy Ervin, Payton Minor, Kadyn Boirum, Julian Hernandez, John Victor Banfield Hicks, Jack Ovenden, Ilan Marietti, Althea Marietti, Beatrice Rutledge, Sam Vassallo and Grace Vassallo.
