Every year, the City of Pittsburgh recycles used Christmas trees into free, natural, and environmentally friendly pine mulch for all City residents. In the 2023/2024 season, over 2.300 trees were recycled!
Mulch Pick Up Dates and Locations
Free mulch can be picked up from The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium's Overflow Parking lot at 7370 Baker St, Pittsburgh PA 15206. The giveaway will happen 4 Saturdays or until supplies run out. The mulch will be available from dawn until dusk.
Two Saturdays, from dawn until dusk or while supplies last:

Residents must bring their own buckets, gloves, and shovels! Quantity is limited and is expected to go quickly.
